The Sitter Hub

Your place for jobs, resources, support, updates, and the
“oh thank god someone finally explained that” bits of babysitting.

Babysitting, but actually flexible.

  • You choose your rate.
  • You choose your jobs.
  • You choose when you work.
  • And we make sure parents treat you like the professional you are and not like “the neighbour's niece”.

Safety & Support

From arrival check-ins to our Sitter Guarantee, we’ve built safeguards so you feel supported every step of the way.

Payments

Stripe - powered, transparent, and on time. No awkward convos with parents, ever.

Expectations

What parents expect, what you can ask for, and how we set everyone up for a great experience.

Support + Insurance

You’re covered while you work through The Village Co. because looking after kids is serious work, and you deserve serious protection.

Our sitter coverage includes:

✔ General Liability (up to $2M)

✔ Statutory Liability (up to $500K)

✔ Coverage while you’re in a family’s home

✔ Support if something goes sideways

What’s not covered? Anything outside your sitter role (e.g., childcare outside the platform), and anything that falls under the “absolutely-nope” category like intentional damage or anything of a sexual nature.

If you ever have a safety concern or something happens during a booking, message us immediately — the sooner we know, the faster we can support you

Safety isn’t a “nice to have” here — it’s baked into everything we do.

Our sitter safety measures include:

  • Verified parents + verified sitters

  • 🔒 In-platform messaging (no giving out your personal details)

  • 🛎 Check-in and check-out expectations

  • 🚨 Emergency contacts + escalation steps

  • 📝 Incident reporting if something feels off

And most importantly:
If at any point you don’t feel safe, you can leave.
Your wellbeing > any booking.
Tell us as soon as you’re able, and we’ll handle the rest.

All bookings are paid through Stripe — no cash, no awkward conversations at the door, no chasing parents for money.

Here’s how it works:

  • You set your own rate

  • Parents pay upfront

  • We pay out to you after the session

  • Platform fee is automatically deducted (no surprises)

You’ll see everything inside your sitter dashboard — every booking, every dollar, every payout date.

If a parent cancels last-minute, our cancellation policy protects your time. You are a professional and we treat you like one.

We’re building a premium, trusted babysitting community.
Parents trust you.
And we trust you.
So here’s what keeps the Village running smoothly:

Sitters are expected to:

  • Show up on time (early = superstar)

  • Communicate clearly

  • Follow parent instructions

  • Leave homes as you found them

  • Be kind, calm, and confident with kids

  • Respect boundaries + privacy

And in return, you can expect parents to:

  • Be respectful and communicative

  • Provide clear instructions

  • Trust your professional judgment

  • Follow safety processes

  • Pay fairly + on time

This is a community built on respect.
You bring the magic — we make sure you’re treated that way.

Your Questions, Answered

Do I need a full licence?

No, but reliable transport does help.

We also ask that you let us know if you are on a restricted licence or if you will be taking public transport so we know how you are travelling to your job and so we can keep you safe.

Do I need qualifications?

Not required but we do ask for childcare experience.

First aid qualifications are offered to those who have not already got one.

Is there an age minimum?

All our sitters need to be 18+.

Do you run background checks?

Yes, as part of our onboarding process we have a 3 step process:

STEP 1 — Apply
STEP 2 — Safety Checks
STEP 3 — Build Your Profile

How do I get more bookings?

Upload a good photo, make sure your availability is up to date and respond fast — parents love it.

Can I set my own rate?

Yes. 100%! We encourage you to choose a rate from $25.00 per hour as anything below that is below minimum wage - but ultimately you can set whatever rate you choose.

Do I pay to be listed?

No. We don't charge for you to be on the site. We only take a 5% fee from all your bookings purely to cover admin costs and to keep you insured.

What if I need to cancel a booking?

We understand that life happens! However, cancellations should be rare. Always give parents at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel.

Can I decline a job request?

Yes! You’re in control of your schedule. If a job doesn’t fit, simply decline it through the app.
